Become a Member of St. Paul's

Joining any faith tradition involves a significant amount of prayer, discernment, and commitment. At St. Paul’s, we provide opportunities for you to explore the Episcopal faith if you are already an Episcopalian, are considering converting to the Episcopal faith, or would like to learn more about St. Paul’s Church.

When you are ready to openly commit to the mission, ministry, and support of St. Paul’s, you are ready to officially join our family … and we are ready to embrace you!

There are several ways of becoming a member of St. Paul’s:

THROUGH BAPTISM

The Episcopal Church considers that anyone who has been baptized with water in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, in any church or denomination, is welcomed as a baptized member of the Episcopal Church. Children as well as adults may be baptized.

THROUGH CONFIRMATION

Adult baptized members become confirmed members through the Sacrament of Confirmation. Confirmation involves prayers and the laying on of hands by an Episcopal bishop.

THROUGH BEING RECEIVED

Those who have been confirmed in another denomination may become a Confirmed Communicant of the Episcopal Church by Reception.

THROUGH TRANSFER

Those who already are Episcopalian and belong to another Episcopal church may become a member by transferring their membership, usually by a letter of transfer.

If you are ready to join St. Paul’s:

  • Contact the clergy of the parish.
  • Sign up and attend the scheduled formation classes.
  • Attend and participate in the baptism, reception and confirmation ceremonies.
