Teaching, instruction and discovery. We educate and nurture the faith of our children, youth and adults.
Christian discipleship at St. Paul’s creates a safe place where we ask the difficult questions of faith, where we are continually being informed by the word of God, and formed by the movement of the Holy Spirit into the person God created us to be—shaped into the image of Christ. It is more than a place for intellectual stimulation, education, support, prayer, community building, and outreach to others. Christian Discipleship is that space where we collectively strive to hear the call of God in our lives and discern our vocation—how best to respond, out of love, to God’s calling to serve God and God’s people. Christian Discipleship is a place of discovery, formation, and transformation.
To function effectively as a Christian community, we need to study, learn, and come together in fellowship. As Christians and as a community of faith, we are called to develop and grow into the image of Christ (hearts, minds, and spirits) and to invite others into this journey of faith. Therefore, a vibrant Christian community must feed its members (Hebrews 5:12-14). As Christians, we tell the story of God’s redeeming grace, be it in our Sunday school program, Book Discussion, Bible Study group, or the Coffee Hour gathering after our 8:00 AM service. Discipleship requires a deliberate, conscious, and ongoing process of discernment. We can be transformed in powerful ways, when we allow ourselves to be open to God’s presence (Romans 12:2, 2 Corinthians 3:18).
We welcome everyone who wants to know more about Jesus and the particular way we live out our Christian faith in the Episcopal Church and here at St. Paul’s. Come explore with us how St. Paul’s might serve you as we get to know each other and how you might serve the larger community.
